Whether you’re a native or a newcomer, it’s hard to argue that there’s something special about living in the DMV.
Our region offers an experience that you just can’t get anywhere else in the world. It’s why so many people from other parts of the country plan their vacations and come here to see all the sites and visit all the places that we’re lucky enough to surround ourselves with all year long.
The DMV is steeped in history and yet unapologetically modern. There’s a unique culture and way of life here — and we love it. You can live your entire life here and not see all there is to see, but of course, we can try.
Yet the DMV is more than tourist sites and beautiful scenery. It’s the unique culture and way of life that draws us in. We could go on for hours (days?) about why we love it here, but here are five of our favorites …
❤️ 1.
Proximity to the Nation’s Capital
Living in the DMV means being in close proximity to Washington, D.C., and all the excitement, activity and history that comes with it. D.C. offers a range of opportunities for cultural and historical exploration, as well as access to high-paying, high-prestige employment opportunities in the federal government and other vital agencies and organizations.
❤️ 2.
Diverse Populations
The DMV is home is home to residents from a wide range of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. This diversity is reflected in the region’s food, music, and cultural events, and offers a rich tapestry of experiences for locals and visitors, alike.
❤️ 3.
A Mix of Urban and Rural
With a blend of bustling cities and small towns, we’ve got the best of everything in the DMV. From the nation’s capital in D.C. to state capitals in Annapolis and Richmond, not to mention the excitement of Baltimore and Northern Virginia, you’ll find plenty of urban attractions. But you can also unwind in rural bliss from the coastal Eastern Shore to the gorgeous mountains of the Shenandoah Valley.

Politics and History
The DMV is home to many of the country’s most significant political and historical landmarks. In D.C., you can visit the White House and the U.S. Capitol, plus dozens museums and historical sites. Up the road in Baltimore is Fort McHenry, where the Star Spangled-Banner was born. A Virginia road trip can take you to countless historic sites from the Civil War to modern times. Our region has shaped our nation — and it continues to do so every day.
